PSYCHE AND CENESTHETIC PROGRAM

The previous essays addressed eroticism and sexuality: how masculine and feminine drives are intertwined while building up Sexual Identity (S.I) as well as blocks in Sexual Identities development phases. This essay is a brief reflexion on Anguish and its many sorts of presentation, according to Psychodramatic Analysis (PA)[1], aiming at introducing Existential Anguish: a kind of anguish that emerge on adolescence and is a key concept to understand and diagnose anguishes from this time on.

Backing to the first essay, we reflect on three fundamental phases that are part of psychological maturation. This phases have in common a huge cenesthetic intensity that requires psychological and physical adaptations, in order to be to be integrated.

The (re)adaptations come together with crisis. Crisis are normal and expected. Dias uses a Computer’s Program way of operating as an analogy to clarify Psychological development Theory. “Gross Psyche” would work as a computer hardware. Its mass storage structure is operated by a software that, in human cases, is the body. The body is going to be filled and directed by a software Program called Identity. “Human’s computer has assigned, in its database, a change in software Program- sexual hormones arousal. This stage is known as the Second Cenesthetic wave. The third wave happens during in menopause, when body is programmed to slow down, progressively, its sexual hormones production. Human’ development Program does not occur automatically. Rather, it depends on a third element, a program executor to be started, which is, in fact, another human being.

[1] P.A is the abbreviation of Psychodramatic Analysis: a methodology that enhances Cenesthetic Program and Sexual Identity Development as theoretical basis, plus techniques adapted from Moreno’s Psychodrama as additional resources for clinical approach
